Legion Solar employs our game changing concept called Solar Regulator™, a technology to contain generated energy behind your meter where the utility company does not own enabling you to generate your own electricity without restriction. As a result, you avoid having to pay for costs normally built into traditional solar systems such as resellers markups, professional installation, sales rep overhead, workers comp insurance, permits, regulatory other fees. We've designed Legion Solar to be lean and mean, where you're paying only for the necessary items to get the job done making Legion Solar 300% more affordable than tradition solar systems.
Return on investment will depend on location and cost of electricity from your energy provider. On average, Legion Solar customers enjoy about a 3 year ROI.
No, you do not.
For traditional grid tied contractor installed solar, interconnection permission with the utility company is required for them to grant you status to back feed (generate power) to the grid.
Traditional contractor installed solar hinges on utility company permission because you are back feeding (generating power) to their grid. As a result, the utility company requires a rigorous application process with city permits, plans, fees, etc. The city requires fees, site plans to be submitted and evaluated to be granted a permit. The solar contractor can not legally perform the installation without the city permit. The home owner can not turn on their solar system without final inspection from the city and utility company's detailed review of all of the above before they grant you permission to turn on your solar system.
Legion Solar™ is not a traditional contractor installed solar system. Legion Solar with SolarRegulator™ allows you to contain the energy that you produce on your side of the meter where the utility company does not own. As a result, it is not necessary to seek interconnection approval and/or permits pertaining to grid tied solar interconnection. Legion Solar works with your existing rate program to simply drive your consumption down. In other words, the utility company only sees less consumption from you, not a grid tied solar system.
Legion Solar™ is unique because it is an off grid system with on grid benefits and installs like any home appliance. Home owners have the right to install/connect any appliance behind their own meter inside their own home unrestricted.
Traditional grid tied contractor installed solar systems require a city permit because the utility company will not approve your solar system to back feed (generate power) without your city’s approval to install grid tied solar. Also, without a city permit, the contractor can not legally perform the solar system installation. Permission to turn on your grid tied solar system from your utility company and city hinges on whether or not your solar system is back feeding to the utility company’s grid.
Legion Solar™ is a do-it-yourself solar system that does not require a contractor to perform the installation. Legion Solar with Solar Regulator™ allows you to contain the solar energy produced behind your utility meter where the utility company does not own. As a result, interconnection permission with the utility company is not necessary and any supporting regulatory steps required by the utility company (like city permission) is also not necessary.
Legion Solar is unique because it has the qualities of an off grid system with on grid benefits. Legion Solar installs like any home appliance and not like a traditional contractor installed solar system. Home owners have the right to install/connect any appliance behind their own meter inside their own home unrestricted.
If your energy company discovers that you have Permission Free Solar, they may dislike it. Here are some of your consumer rights.

A simple calculation can be done to calculate your energy value.
Daily Energy Value = System Size (kW) * Hours of Sun * Cost of energy (per kW)
The Legion Solar Starter set comes with a ‘Type B’’ adapter rated at 15A. This plug can be plugged into any North/Central America 3 pronged receptacle. International customers can convert the Type B plug to any receptacle style for plug and play installation or install a junction box for hard wire.
Legion Solar can be installed virtually anywhere. Simply expose the solar panels to sunlight connect and install your system. If you install a traditional solar system, you may have to upgrade your panel due to regulatory reasons. This is costly and time consuming. With Legion Solar, you do NOT have to upgrade your electrical panel.Legion Solar takes advantage of the existing wiring that you already have in your home. Yes. Many customers enjoy using Legion Solar in conjunction with their existing system due to the lower cost and the DIY design of Legion Solar. Your existing system and Legion Solar can run simultaneously without interference. Both systems will simply produce their own energy to be combined at your electric panel.
No. Our micro-inverters employ a standard feature called anti-islanding. As soon as the power goes out, the micro-inverters stops producing power.
No. When you unplug Legion Solar from any receptacle (or any other type of connection), grid voltage is no longer present and solar power generation immediately stops. If you accidentally touch the exposed prong ends you will not be electrocuted.
Solar Regulator™ is a learning computer. It receives input from the core transformers to sense current flow and actively communicates in real-time with all the micro-inverters to turn on or off solar power production so that total power production does not exceed current consumption.
Using this method allows you to legally bypass utility company interconnection permission (and all the red tape associated with it) because you are generating your own energy behind your own meter and consuming it at the same time.
Most insurance companies cover the entire home (inside and on rooftops). Please check with your insurance provider for specific details pertaining to your actual coverage.
BatteryCommander can be used with Deep Cycle Sealed Lead Acid Batteries (SLA) only. We recommend two 12V 40-60Ah batteries for every BatteryCommander.
Yes. Larger capacity batteries can be used. However, to achieve ideal system match with the 300W solar panels we recommend 40-60Ah batteries. If you use larger capacity batteries, they may not become fully charged and the additional capacity available will be unused.
Solar Regulator only works with Legion Solar Micro-Inverters. It is not compatible with any other 3rd party inverters.
